With various mediums used to create art pieces, artist Alizay Sajjad’s works are all a call to action. Primarily working with fabric, and dress design, this hasn’t stopped her from creating books, portraits, and acrylic paintings. Alizay’s work primarily focuses on social issues centered around gender, religion, and religious political events. Her work is critical to gender norms, and it heavily critiques the heavy self-created masculinity within religion.

Alizay is a Pakistani-born artist raised in the Seattle area. She uses she/her pronouns. She is of Muslim background, and her faith inspires much of her art. Alizay has given a Ted Talk focusing on sexual violence within the Muslim community. She is a final year student at the University of Washington and will be doing her master’s in social work this fall.

She is a current BA (2021) candidate in Interdisciplinary Visual Arts at the University of Washington and will be pursuing her Master’s in Social Work this fall at Columbia University.
