Joyce Zhou, a Chinese artist born and raised in Zhengzhou, China, majors in Art with a concentration in Photo/Media and minors in Mathematics. She mainly produces creative work in multimedia, including photographs, videos, installation arts, and paintings. She started to pursue her bachelor’s degree at the University of Washington Seattle in 2017 and will graduate in spring 2021.
Joyce’s journey to art was lit up early by her intuition and insight. Having a strong desire to explore the world in depth, she looked beyond the complicated phenomena and features of the world. Her early creation is mainly focused on drawing and painting, but she turned to photographs, inspired by New York–based artist Zoe Leonard in 2019. She is interested in playing with different media and figuring out the relationship between the subject matters and the way to represent them to the audience. During her practice, she focuses more on abstract photography and landscape photography.
