This series of images was captured on a hike in nature on the week leading up to the presidential election this fall. In a time when the world seemed so stressful and full of hate, I sought out any chance to breathe in some fresh air and clear my head. On this particular outing, I was walking around a ski hill which had not yet been covered in snow and I noticed how the structures put on this mountain for skiing really stood out without the snow. The interactions between the man-made structures and the wildness of the nature in this remote part of Idaho really called to me.

Megan Skene is a photographer from the Seattle area who found her love for photography by taking an introductory level course her freshman year at the University of Washington. From then on, she kept taking classes where professors challenged her to keep on improving and thinking in new, creative ways. While her process and technique have changed over the years, her focus has remained on capturing the relationship between the built and natural environments. Megan enjoys working with digital cameras and film cameras, but when she does not have either on hand, she loves to fill her phone camera roll with tons of quick photos to refer back to and reminisce.
