Fragments reflects on the objectification of the body. By examining my own body with a camera, I challenged myself to explore the unique shapes and “flaws” of my body. In this series the body becomes a puzzle. This fragmentation adds to the alienation and confronts the viewer with the blown-up details.

Tabea Schendekehl is a visual artist currently based in Seattle. Her work is interdisciplinary, but she primarily works in videography and photography. She often transforms her own experiences into abstract narratives to convey a more universal, deeper meaning. Her focus is not always on the visual, but on the story a piece of work can tell. Her inspiration comes from the German tales and poems of her childhood, her career as a high-performance athlete on the National and UW rowing team, and her interest in environmental and social issues.
